The master’s degree in Energy Engineering (on Campus) is a taught multi-disciplinary international programme suitable for applicants from engineering, architecture, planning and other relevant backgrounds. It is intended to investigate the latest design developments not only in the international scientific field, but also in the European and national regulatory and legal framework. Students will be acquainted with the required knowhow for monitoring and evaluating the energy efficiency of building systems, buildings, renewable and conventional energy systems including Oil & Gas, and of indoor environmental quality conditions, in accordance to legal and best-practice requirements, so as to be able to focus on the field of energy engineering. The programme consists of two streams:

  • Sustainable Energy Resources
  • Sustainable Built Environment
The programme focuses on the interrelated principles of these two crucial fields, with respect to climate change mitigation and adaptation, resilience, energy transition, circular economy, and achieving the related sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The MSc Programme is developed in order to meet the emerging needs of Cyprus for education in the field of sustainable energy systems by providing the skills needed to key professionals, who are or will be active in the private sector, in governmental institutions and local authorities and as freelance professionals. The degree greatly enhances the employability of our graduates in public and semi-public organisations, whose work is related to the implementation of energy and environment related legislation and to the operation of the energy market, or in the power generation, the construction and the building materials industries.

Specifically, the target group for the proposed Programme will be:

  • Engineers and architects who have recently completed their Bachelor studies and seek a higher and focused education before entering the market;
  • professionals with experience in the field, who wish to reorient their career and place emphasis on the topics covered by the programme, as these reflect the latest developments in the energy and building sectors in Europe;
  • professionals from public and semi-public organisations, whose work is related to the implementation of energy and environment related legislation and to the operation of the energy market;
  • professionals from the power generation, the construction and the building materials industries.
  • The duration of the program is one and a half (1,5) years – three (3) semesters for full time or three (3) years 6 semesters for part time attendance.
  • For the successful completion of the program, 90 ECTS are required. The program is offered in three (3) semesters and each semester corresponds to 30 ECTS
  • The programmes consists of courses of 10 ECTS each (3 compulsory and 3 elective). The Program promotes the participation of postgraduate students in research projects through their Thesis (30 ECTS), where the topic of the Thesis is related to the research work of their Thesis advisors.
  • In case students fail to complete their studies within the time stated above, the duration of the studies can be extended. The extension time determined by the internal regulation of the University, concerning Students’ Graduation, provides that the maximum duration of studies for the full time mode is 5 semesters and for the part time mode 10 semesters.
